Obsessed with fine jewellery, mother to three very sweet (and very energetic) boys, a through-and-through otter (if you know, you know), knows my way around just about every winery, café and event in Hawke’s Bay, a former makeup artist and a minimalist at heart.

Married to a Filipino, my last name is pronounced SÁH-LES, though naturally, it’s often said as it reads. The additions to my last name felt right and from there, SÁHLES was born.

I created SÁHLES after growing tired of the high price tags attached to fashion jewellery, pieces that weren’t made to last. For me, there’s something about wearing the real thing, solid gold, diamonds, sterling silver, gemstones, pieces of rarity, that makes me feel strong, confident, and put together.

SÁHLES steps away from the overwhelm of too many choices. It’s a considered edit of pieces you reach for everyday, that you can wear with just about everything and with a quality you can feel.

My hope is that SÁHLES becomes more than a brand. That it encourages mindful purchasing, to remind people of the beauty in buying less but better, and in some way, gives back to the community along the way.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but what are we without dreams?
